Favorite snakes

Post by Neco the Nightwraith »

Yesh indeed, they are. I particularly the Rainbow Boa, for it's beautiful colors.

And yes, I have been known to cuddle, kiss and baby talk snakes. They're just so cute!

The cobras are particulary neat, I think. But your average rattlesnake is pretty cool too, though.

I like eels, too. I've actually had a liking for Moray eels since I was young. In my human form, that is. Poeple thought it was odd to see a little 4-year-old girl sticking her face up to the eel tank.

Everything except dolphin...

It was disgusting...

Mmm, eel, grilled in terryiaki sauce, served on a bed of rice, with those little chicken skewers and miso (I think it's called that) soup.

Yummy.

I totally want to try it, along with rattlesnake, ostrich and emu (and others), but I haven't found any place here that sells it. I shall have to wait patiently as to such time when I can get my grubbly little hands on a dish of it.

Yesh, probly 'cause you've got gators there.

Here in Cali the gators are mighty shy.

I live in Florida, and so far all the times I've been offered a dish of alligator I've refused. Alligators are among my favorite non-fantasy creatures and I'd never forgive myself for eating one. I'm sure it's delicious, of course, but I just...don't want to try it....
And sea-food is my favorite kind of meal....Especially shrimp...mmm....
I don't eat veal, venison, lamb, calamari (not that I don't want to eat squid, I just didn't like it), rabbit, horse, dog or cat. Blech.

Quite frankly, I'm a country girl at heart. Not quite hick, but certainly a little redneck (hey, I can hypnotize chickens!) City life...meh, it's all right, but I can survive without all the little amenities to. My dad grew up on a sheep ranch. He was taught that yuo ate what you were given, regardless of what you thought about it.

Guess who was taught that mentality? Yep. Me. So I eat pretty much anything that passes by. As I've gotten older, I've spread my tastes out further (not to brussels sprouts, God no!) I've eaten venison (thought it was beef at first), rabbit (thought it was chicken until I asked why the leg was malformed), calamari (funny, because my oceanography teacher had fried up a few calamari steaks and served them snack food style while, yes, you guessed, we were doing a squid dissection lab) and found them much to my liking.

Since then, whenever they are offered, I partake.

Emu tastes much like a zoo smells. Basically the smell of hay and crap. I had some in Australia along with crocodile and kangaroo.

Someone said ostrich tasted like beef.

Has anyone here ever had it?

Ah, please don't remind me of those accursed squid dissections....when my 5th grade class went down to the Keys for a sea-lab thing (two days in a humongous camp) we dissected squids and our teacher made us write on our arms with the ink. Then, they took the squid parts and threw them into the shark pond (a big, deep lake-like thing full of bonnet-heads and nurse sharks), and we had to go in after! With shark-food all over our arms! yeesh....

I'm not much of a city girl either. I went to New York for a vacation and I was VERY eager to get back home. I live in a small town, which, unfortuantly, is growing larger and larger. If we're not careful, it'll turn into a small city. My family is moving out of it this year, though. Well, we're TRYING to.

Not being squemish I actually kind of enjoyed the dissections, because it helped me to see how everything was connected inside.

The best disection ever was the one we did on the dog fish though. Our specimen had swallowed a freaking fish almost as big as it was! We were looking at this huge organ that was supposed to be the stomach, but it was too big. We called the teacher over and he was all confused until he cut it open and pulled the fish mentioned above, two squid beaks, and the remains of other fish.

It was awesome!

We were the only ones with big stuff inside our dogfish.

It wasn't really the dissection I didn't like (it was kinda fun to pull out the beak), it was jumping into a shark pool with squid all over my arm. Thats what really got me.

This would be Unagi Donburi with YakiTori. (I live in Japan) and Miso Soup is served with everything over here.

Yeah, but would YOU like to jump into a pool full of hungry sharks with they're dinner all over your arm? And nurse sharks DO bite if provoked or hungry. It's not to common, but not unheard of.

Post by Neco the Nightwraith »

Lol. If anything I'd bite back.

And Yes! The Unagi Donburi and YakiTori are aboslutely delish. The miso soup wasn't so bad either. But I couldn't eat all of it, so i saved it, and got to enjoy it again.

Another thing I like is lobster. Yummy. *tummy grumbles*
