Final Fantasy 6. Its what got me hooked on the FF series. Also Earthbound is pretty awesome.
Non RPG wise, I'd have to go with Zelda, like the SNES ones and the N64 ones. But those are kinda RPG ones as well, just not in the level building sense.
Tetris of course makes it onto the list just for being so addictive.
Finally Crusader :No Remorse is possible the best shooter game I'd ever played. Made in 1996, the game is played at a 3/4's view and had many elements that many of the mindless shooter games are missing. For first it didn't try to be realistic or have a serious plot line. You were betrayed by WEC, which owns the world, and you get your revenge by joining the resistance, basically an excuse to blow the crap out of everything. Don't have the keycard to continue on? Instead of solving long puzzle, you can handle it like someone in a hurry would and blow the door open.
Most games now are pretty bad and just sequels that thrive off of huge budgets that are directed towards making the cut scenes even shinier (Yes I realize the FF series falls into this category). As spiffy as they look, most people skip them the second time through.

Yeh, it's not so much how you play it, but who you play it with. I love Smash Bros. Melee. But it's not too much fun to play by yourself. You gotta have a group. I like the Zelda games. I'm no good at rpg's. But I actually finish the Zelda games! Oh! And just about any racing game. I love racing. Need for Speed: Underground is the best so far. . .I haven't got to play a lot of the more recent games. I'm kinda behind on the times. . .*sigh*

I have to admit it was pretty good, but if you get enough opf your friends together after a firework war, at one A.M., while under the influence of orange sodas, then Super Smash Brothers Melee is the best...
I stayed in New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina, and all I got was this lousy T-shirt, a new Cadillac, and a plasma screen T.V....

I like: Paper Mario: TTYD, Smash Brothers, Reign of Fire, Lord of the Rings: TTT, all the Zelda games, Mario Party (you need a group of sugar-high friends) 5, 6 and 7, the Need for Speed games are ok, but I prefer Burn Out, though Need for Speed has a MUCH larger car selection, that old Donkey Kong for the original Nintendo, uumm....Galaga I and II (in the Namco game thing for GC), and once and a while the Harvest Moon games.

Yeah, Super Smash Brothers Melee is really fun at a party mixed with everything mentioned up above. I mean, if you're going to beat the out of a character, it might as well be a nintendo one. Think about it, Nintendo games make everyone mad, because they're so difficult sometimes...
