Neco, you talk of John sounding like a smart ass, you are acting like a smart ass. I can clearly understand where you are coming from and your point of view, but if you can't figure out another way to say it then slowly but surely people will start to dislike you, they might even start to hate you. I've seen this happen to many times on other forums.

Now to clear things up, I'm not yelling nor am I mad, I'm just giving you some advice. We can understand that you are an experienced role-player and so am I, but constantly talking to people about what they did wrong is not the way to "improve" the boards' role-playing. Actually it is best to be patient and only point out the major mistakes.

Ex.

Remember when you said Kojack, I want to suggest far, FAR more detail in your character profile. It is very hard to imagine playing with a char that has no detail.

Even though I knew that I needed more detail I appreciated you pointing that out. The lack of detail in the profile is a major mistake and you saw that and acted upon it. You know what you are doing and what you are saying but acting like you know everything will most definitely piss someone off.

Basically what I am saying is to say what you have to say in a nicer way, only point out the major mistakes, and be patient.

*laughs* Thank you very much Kojack. But there's a difference between being 'smart-ass' and being 'polite'.

I've been trying to be polite this entire time, by laying out what my feelings were, and why I felt them. I have reacted far more politely here than, say, I would have when I was 'new'.

Quite frankly, they can dislike me all they want. They should just know the feeling would be returned in kind.

I feel that I have pointed out the major mistakes...ones quite frequently made, that I have seen frequently made.

I apologize if you think I'm trying piss people off, but let's be aware of both sides of the equation, shall we?

The word you all are looking for is "blunt" which is good in RPGs. And sorry I missed all of that but I think you cleared it up. And I do agree, yes it is the players choice what his/her character does it will be Heavyman's power to have last word on things that happen to all characters. This is one reason to give as much detail as you can. So your DM can decide if your character can do something new all of the sudden.

/MOD voice

And a side note, I am looking foreword to watching this game unfold. I have played a couple of paladins in Forgotten Realms and have learned to like the world. All of luck in getting the drow all.

Like I said you know what what you are talking about. 8) You are completely right about the difference there.

I have noticed that you only pointed out the major and frequently made mistakes, I said what I did so that the others would know that you are only pointing out the major and frequently made mistakes. The only reason why I didn't say that myself because it is best that the person who is doing the "positive criticism" tells what they are doing and why they said what they said.

Rest assured, I do see both sides of the equation. Also, by judging from your posts I can clearly see that you are not trying to piss people off. I appreciate that you said that. Now the others can see what you are doing and why you said what you said.

I must thank you for not getting angry with me. I honor you for that.

I was trying to figure out where they were coming out from...oh wait, Heavyman said from somewhere in the middle of the city, from the underdark, through under...mountain?

Perhaps we should go there and close the opening, then round them up afterward.

Of course, it all depends on what Heavyman wants to do, but that was an idea.

Hmmm... Black skin, white hair, red eyes. Usually they are very tall and powerful. Don't like coming out into the day if they can help it, they prefer night.

Does that help some?

And don't forget that the women are normally in charge. And they are normally clerics of Lolth.

This is my charecter

Name: Bryan Galvin
Age: 125
Gender: male
Race: Gold half dragon
Physical Appearance: Silver hair. Light tan skin. Glowing red eyes. 3 foot wings. He is approximately 6' 6". He has a Scar going from the right side of his fore head, down over his eyelid, and ending at his jaw. He looks as if he's had plenty of experience in battle.
Attire: looks like an assassin at first glance. His full plate covers his nose and mouth.
Armor: Full Plate Male
Class: Rogue.
Weapon(s): Broad Sword (about 1 foot wide and 2 feet long, missing a good point)
Personality: Friendly, with slight attittude problems.

He does not fly.

One, if he's a rouge why is he wearing full plate? And normally rouges would use daggers, and knives broad sword would get in the way of sneaking around.

Not trying to talk against your idea there. But he could be a "brute" like rogue. So more or less a hired goon of the like. But by the sounds of it that weapon is unusable. Not only does it have no end there is only one foot change on the different edges. The dimensions you gave there are of a coffee table or something like that. And lord knows where the center of mass is.

Not trying to be annoying or anything, but three foot wings? Is it apparent that your character can't fly? Or are they just really small? For your character to be about the size of Areon and still fly, he would need to have much larger wings according to his weight. Unless he has a special magic that allows him to lift off instead.

Also, the broad sword? Two feet by three feet? Pardon me, but that's not a sword. It's a rectangle. Even if it is missing the point.

Also, more detail would be nice, if you want us to picture your character the way you'd like us to.

Yeah, that's it.

no, not for something that's 6 feet tall, and all that weight. Until whoever made that char gives it better description, and makes more sense im not accepting the character sheet.

One foot is still too wide to be practical. Below are some average broadsword dimensions that I found for you, based on European type broadswords:

Example A:

Overall length: 38.5" (about three feet)

Blade length: 32.5" (about two feet)

Blade width: 2.25"

Weight: 2 lbs. 12 oz.

Example B:

Overall length: 44" (the high end of three feet)

Blade length: 36" (three feet)

Blade width: 2"

Blade thickness: three sixteenths inches thick

Weight: 2 lbs. 12 oz.

Blades have been mentioned as 47 1/2'' (overall, w/37 1/8'' blade), 33 1/2'' (overall, w/39 3/8'' blade), and 47'' (overall w/36 3/4'' blade).

Broad sword blade length averages between 28 and 34 inches but can exceed four feet in the two-handed varieties.

O.K. is this better? Since I deleted the broad sword measurements, you can use your imagination. Also he has somewhat average eyes now, and different hair.

no. Silver hair? a gold half dragon would have blonde or goldish hair. Red eyes? only something undead would have that. And assassins wouldn't wear full plate armor, too bulky and it would clank when sneaking around so, he must be a worthless one.
