**exasperrated noise** Alright, look, casting spells, since you aren't going to offer yours, I will offer mine, I believe that casting a spell is asking the Gods or Goddesses, whatever you worship to grant you a favor, or to get something done. Protection, love, or whatnot. You use special pre-written words or make up your own sutras. Sometiems people use their own ceremonial items and dress in robes.

Now tell me, is that an accurate description of someone casting a spell?

Okay on a quick note of my own Talus has the most accurate description of a "spell" and has a good grasp on the wiccan faith...I know several proud wiccans and ect...and unlike out vengeful tempered spellwirter they dont blow up buildings or seek to hurt people with their "spells" or religion ever. As for the post on a wizard or wtich sending forth energy as a form of spell...I beleive people who "send forth" or manipulate\receive energy at will are known as psionics not wizards or witches...and I could go even further into that into things like psi vampirism and sangunarian vampirism but that strays to far from the topic of discussion doesnt it?

I've cast spells before.
and they've worked for me.
all I've done is use the energy around me in the elements, and my own energy and put it out into the world with a purpose. there was no ceremony no special words. just basic tools which represent the elements and my own thoughts.

it's just taking energy and putting it out there with a purpose.

Well, it doesn't have to be complicated, usually the more stuff you throw into a spell could make it more focused and generally has a beter effect on whatever its purpose was. But I believe at its core, magick is simply probability change. You want something, you cast a spell, you usually get it, unless its something bad. Karma also takes place. Whatever energy you hurl into the world is thrown right back atcha.

Also as a sidenote, AngelofDeath5, the only reason why I haev such a good grasp of Wicca is because I not only study it. I am Wiccan. Believe it or not, it makes a difference in your perception.

I used to be Wiccan...at some point in my life but I'm sort of a Spiritualist...don't laugh because lots of people keep going on at me saying ghosts don't exist..well they do in my house

Ghosts have to be real. Or at least imprints of people in the layer of reality on Earth that usually is associated with psychic activity...

However, there are many things out there that can't be explained by conventional science, and can be explained away easily by saying it was ghosts...

wicca is real and its not all about magic its about respect for the environment and helping people to and its not sexixt like other religions (im a male, i stick up for everyones rights)

In truth for me wicca is the only thing that i can truly grasp i mean look at christianity... how can you even believe something you read out of a book? I cant see how those zealos christens out there live theres lives with nothing but hope (Maybe false hope) and faith that maynot even be real But wicca is somethignthat is beliveable because askign the gods for something is somewhat like christianity but you usually get what you want. And in the past havent conflicts between religions happend? And it was all just because one religion was trying to push its beliefs into other people faces and telling them that hteir religion is wrong and thats basically whats happening with the war in iraq the muslim said we were wrong in our religions and attacked us with no perfectly justified reason. which is why the only religion i truly believe in is wicca cause the beliefs of its people have never been pushed on other peoples religions although all th other religions have tried to tell wiccans that they are wrong but the wiccan people have never become upset about it and started to fight for what they believe in because they no their religion is someting of believe able while other riligions get there holding from a book which is why i have no religion although i do believe in somepoints of diff religions like i believe in god though i dont agree with all his teachings! and you know you never no christianity could be tottally wrong and who knows buddism could be right we dont no we wont no util (If there is one) Redemption day comes!

Picture religion as a towel. I don't want to offend anyone without a religion, but having a towel, as well as a faith, lets one feel they have something to use in a bad situation.

Maybe no faith is correct, maybe they all are. Who knows?

But if looked at from a scientific stand point, no religion makes sense. Seriously, look at the Bible. Do you REALLY think a twenty foot man fought and lost to a little guy named David? Do you really think that God made a day longer just so army one could beat army two? I sure don't.

However, if there is one thing almost every religion preaches, it's this. Treat every one as you'd want to be treated. It's called the golden rule because it's the only thing that seperates our civilization from total chaos. Every one knows it, but some feel more comfortable about belonging to a certain sect of people who believe the same thing.

The irony lies in the fact that most religions believe the same thing, but because these sects are different, they fight each other, which defies the rule that they were originally meant to set down.

So yes, I can understand why people might become athiest, to advoid this hippocritical group of people who cling to the religion of their choice like a tree in a flood. However, others feel more comfortable in a group with a religion, as they can mearly pray to get inner strength.

Either way, religion or lack of it relies in the preferance of the individual.
