Interesting and Awesome Manga!
Good Manga titles are not-so-rare a find these days, but there is a lot to sift through. This thread is to point out a few of the best of these oriental classics, both new and old.
As a starter I will add Fullmetal Alchemist to the list. It is a good starter if you are looking to get into Manga in my opinion. It's Genre is Action though it would be better described as mixture of almost all types of literature. In simpler terms: It's freakin' awesome!
PS: I meant to add one more option, but forgot to click the 'add option' button... oh well...

I have never read any Manga. As Firuweata said, anime gets really boring after a while. They have over a hundred shows and only half a story has been told. I didn't want to read to books just incase they did the same thing. I don't mind buying a $3-5 book that has a full story in it, with a catch at the end to keep you going. But if manga is anything like anime it will have them walk across a hallway talk for half the book about the fight they are about to have then spend the last part of the book having only one attack from each fighter.
Do they have quicker plot lines? Note: I don't read comics either.

A plotline is like food... it is best if you savor it, and anime does just that, it lets you savor the moment...
Oh and the last option was going to be 'I can't read, and I don't like cartoons.' than I respond 'HOW THE #*#@ CAN YOU CALL THEM CARTOONS!!'

I said that at one point. But then I saw the "Getting a Driver's Licenses" episode of DBZ. I did decide to give it one more try. And then later I missed about a month and a half of the show due to work and classes, and missed nothing. I really can't say too much against it, I mean soap operas do the same thing and people like them. So that is how I see most of the non-movie anime, some even have the same plot lines. Some are great, because they end and have good writers who don't write themselves into a corner.

If you were to juggle a lion, and a house cat, the end result would look something like a tattered chunk of red fabric. The cat would scratch anything within reach, and the lion would just eat you. The lesson to learn? Make sure you eat your spinach.

Admittedly the anime of Naruto has dragged on a bit but it's going back to the manga storyline soon with the hurricane chronicles (or something like that) and the manga aint that bad

I love anime and manga, heck, I love the whole japanese culture!
Fav. Anime: Eureka 7
Fav. Manga: .Hack//Twilight
Eureka (El-reh-ka seh-ve-n) is a futuristic anime. There are giant mech called LFO's, which have a car fowm, and a mech form. Also, people do something called "Lifting". Lifting uses light particles and traper particles that are in the air to "lift" a board into the air in which you ride on. Put them together and you get amazing air combat fights. The plot for Eureka 7 is that a young boy called Renton, has his house crashed into by a girl named Eureka. Renton falls in love with her and joins the Geko State. A reble group against the milatary. There are tons of sub plots. This anime can be called Action/Romance/Comedy.
.Hack//Twilight is based in an MMORPG (Massive Multiplayer Online Role PLaying Game) called "The World". A brother and sister win the special .Hackers avatars, and follow in there footsteps. I don't know as much because I havn't read them for a while. There are 3 manga in the series. This is a Action/Comedy
