well, I've been waiting patiently for a long time now for a decent RP to get my teeth into. you know I don't start them, I'm one of those without the patience to keep them going, but I do join them and see them through to the end.

I can't describe how happy I was to see Aki's RP! finally sometime worth my time and imagination.

Ex one from you wouldn't go amiss either. I think AoD is looking for you to post in his so we can get that ball started.

If I think of a good story maybe i'll post one too...but I doubt it'll happen for a while.

The site has changed but then this change started when the old board went down. this new board hasn't really had the oomph of the old board. but it can change. just make it the top of your favourites and you'll find yourself clicking everytime you come on the internet. I know I have and do just that.

Part of having new and improved RP's is that PEOPLE JOIN THEM!! >gets hysterical ad screams for a cople of minutes< sorry about that but I have an RP up and precious few have commited.

falconer, I'm sorry mate but just take a look at your ooc and Aki no Kaze's.
look at the difference in detail and the amount of story. this goes for a lot of you. unless you have thought the plot and backstory out to a high level of detail then really the RP is likely doomed to never be finished.

I know I never consider joining an RP where the OOC info is something like.

"you wake up in a jail, you don't know why, there are five other people in there"

it's just a personal thing i suppose but for me Rping involves me putting a lot of effort into making and developing a character. and the standard of story I look for to join is high.

call me a snob if you will, but what the hey.

True true, but there were a few GREAT Rp's going before a string of computer misshaps broke out... You should check 'Sukura: The words of power' made by Talusculon. It was to be continued in 'Song of Regeneration: Past' and 'present', but it was spread too thinly and Tal's computer crashed. I hope we could put them back togeather and continue through the story but, it is doubtful as most deem a thread broken by time beyond repair....

A few more Rp's show promise if some would get off their 'fatty acids' and start them.

And finally, my Rp, 'Arden: A Dying Sun' is doing fairly well, though it isn't GREAT...

well sometimes too tight of a rp plot doesn't leave enough room for imagination and it can become boring and repititious (just fighting off monsters again and again doesn't really cut it for me)

The restrictions are present to ensure that an RP doesn't run awry.

I know that. But the senior's RPs are hard-set. A definite plot, but the dialogue and all else changes.

Try finding a place to rp in a MMORPG filled with over 10,000 people at any given time, plus trying to avoid noobs and one-liners, power players and god-moders, PLUS trying to avoid the smut rpers...welcome to my world

Exanderous is right, looking around at the old RP i.e june 2005-december2005 was onfire, even though im new here i can see the lack of RP being posted compared to back the. *raises glass of sherry to Exanderous' point*
*pats silver orbs' back too*.

*coughes and growls* No pa...*collapses* Vodka!

Ahem, back on topic.
I believe that any popular rps that Chalgrish describes could be made sticky OR access to them restricted to certain people who can rp. As a members rp skills improve, they'll eventually gain acess to these topics

did you split this in to two threads? I don't see why that was needed Chal.

the whole idea of the thread was to discuss RP's in general and where we currently are.

sometimes I think you can be a bit trigger happy.

The original was about Ex's returning, with a side note of RP discussion.

Besides, what trigger?

I agree with the light amount of information on games. Players need to have a lot of information on how to build a character for your game. I agree a free play forum style we use here really does not need too many rules. You don't need to build the entire world though.

Some details that can help are things that all people in your land would know. Things like major cities, kings and things like that. And other than saying what they can't use just tell that they can. Role-players try to use every little loophole to create the strongest character they can. (who doesn't) Another good idea is give a very detailed character who may or may not be in the game, but is just there to show what you would like to see in the game. And don't feel afraid to ask a player for more.

For example, I have a couple of pages of a game I am cleaning up to start here. I found a few problems with it and will add at least another week to putting it out. It is more a number based character build so all characters will be closer to the same level of power. But I plan to add skills and abilities with a good background. And I am using a pre-written game to help me with running it easier.
