Post by Falconer »

Don't you think that making a thread on how to contact you to have a link to your site, is more rules calisthenics than anything else? You may want to take a look at this thread

Also, private messaging is exactly what it is: a private way to communicate between users. As such, these messages are not actually moderated. However, if someone is harassing or annoying you in "private", you can complain to an Administrator and we will see what kind of measures are needed to resolve the situation. More on private messaging can be found in this thread.
In your case since someone would request the url of your site from you, providing the info is not considered as an abuse of the system.

So I could put the site (code named Beta for convenience) link on here if I also had discussion on everyone's opinions? :poke: Assuming anyone else is interested. Or should i just forget telling others about it? It's not really that important and if u say no, then i'll stop.

It wasn't really rules calisthenics, i just wanted a faster way to comunicate with everyone rather than sending a thousand PM's to everyone.

So if i started a new thread about Beta, I could put the link there? I'm assuming no one else knows of it.

Everyone who reads these forums probably has heard of this 'Beta' by now.

I don't know what to say more than what was already mentioned in the links in my post above.

 You can put a link into the "website" section of your profile and unless it's porn, pretty much anything is acceptable there (otherwise, I wouldn't allow it). This is traditional way of sharing your website here.

 If you create a topic dedicated to your site only, then make sure that you have a very resourceful or very interesting site as:
I wrote: ... sharing websites with good content make this board look good; however, sharing websites filled with 'under construction' or questionable content makes this board look bad.
This is very subjective and your post may be deleted entirely if our definition of "good content" or "making the board look good" substantially differ from yours.

However, as mentioned earlier, it would probably be better to simply post a single thread (or turning this one into something more useful) by asking other people if they are working on a website and tell us why you build a site, what challenge you faced, why you have chosen this particular topic and other things like that. Since this kind of thread would be informative and everyone would have a chance to chip in and share a bit of their personal interest with the entire board then it will probably have a much longer life span than a thread about your website only.
