Here a some of the theories I have come up with. Note: draconic_chronicler, I know you don't think these theories are correct except maybe the Eden one.
One
Time is the only dimension. Everything else is an illusion. Mind's float around and enter bodies randomly as they become available. You could have easily been born in a different body and time.
Two
Eden is a different world. After sinning, God drove us out into this one. Adam and Eve appeared in the Middle East and named some rivers after the Tigris and Euraphates. We get our dragon myths and legends from Eden, where Dragons roamed freely.
Three
As all the big Dragons were killed off, natural selection selected for smaller and smaller dragons, until they were about the size of dogs with wings.
Tell me what you think.

Theories for what?
I'm a mutt of theories. I collect them. They sit and collect dust in my mind
Reincarnation: Present in the Hindu religion. Also present and mentioned in Otherkin 'circles' and most aspects of Paganism
The 'Big Bang' theorie- matter, particles, reactions and atoms.
Circular pattern- there's no straight life and death. There's rebirth and the reconsumation of the soul
There's a few more

"Anything is Possible, Though, Nothing is Probable." Meaning that if something doesn't exist in this world, it most likely does in some other universe or dimension as the possibilities of such are limitless. You just had the bad luck to land in this one if you don't like it.
This is my favorite which I like to base myself on. It agrees with everything, while standing apart from other beliefs.

Anything is Possible...
And Yet, Nothing is Probable.
