Well, firstly, I was wondering what kind of music everyone listens to here? And...Name a band/artist that has affected you in a positive way...not your favorite band, just a band that changed you in some way.

He said a song that has changed you in some way. I couldn't believe that anything Linkin' Park has said has changed you in a positive way.

A song that has changed me is Just Like Heaven by The Cure. It taught me to be nicer to people. I don't know if any of you know of the band, but they were like a ska band in '87. And if any of you have heard the song than you would think that I'm insane because the song is about a girl, not being nicer to people.

Linkin park has changed me in a better way. It has made me understand why people do things that they do. And in knowing why people do these things, I know why I do things and I can correct it.

Green day gives me a philosophical look on life. As I quote Wake Me up When September Ends "Summer has come and passed, the innocent can never last. Wake me up when September ends" It essentially means that nothing lasts forever, and though you may want to just go to sleep until things are better, you have to push through.

*stick whack* :thwack: bad! no swearing! makes my eyes feel dirty! *popsout an eye and wipes it clean with towel* *screws eyeball back in* now where was I? ah yes! in a cartoon it would be :swear:

But I like various "goth" bands like green day, good charlotte, and Linkin Park. I call them Goth because they have a gloomy demeanor about them

My favorite band would be Linkin Park, the song "In the End."
'I kept everything inside, and even though I tried, it all fell apart. What it meant to me will eventually be a memory of a time when I tried so hard."
Basically, if you try to do everything yourself and keep it hidden, it won't work. You need other people even if you think you can handle it.

I like a bunch of different kinds of music, and I like Linkin Park and some songs of Green Day. And I suppose I can see how they could effect some people maybe. But, I don't think music really changes people for the better or worse. The person's the same, it's just that maybe they have a little bit different perspective of something after listening to or reading literature, as that is essentially what the lyrics to music are.

 :eyebrow: still uncalled for, but I forgive you. but as punishment..... :poke: :thwack: *ties you to a chair and makes you read the screenplay of "Desert, the boring thing" 60 times*

anyway, Linkin Park can e crude, have a meaning to their songs, or just freak out all over the place!

Well to show you all what a unsavy music listener I am, I'll tell you all I listen to classical music. And then to show you all what a Final Fantasy dork I am I'll also tell you I listen to The Black Mages (It's a band). I've never heard (the music) those bands you people are bringing up.

Well. ..

Post by Medea »

Well, you've probably heard at least one of their songs, they are very popular. You just might not have known that those groups were the ones that you were listening too. And, don't feel bad, I listen to classical music as well, and I love the music from all of the final fantasy games (granted, some of it is dorky, but most of it is cool!). Have you ever heard "The Planets" classical music by Gustav Holst? If not, I command you to LISTEN to it! Did my hypmotizing work???? lol Anyways, ya. . . I'll go now. . . lol

It's the common thing to not like in music.

Yes I have heard The Planets. Hell, not only that but I played 2nd trumpet for one of them and wrote a report on Holst. Now go listen to Scherizad (phonetic spelling there). 45 minuets of longness. And none of the Final Fantasy music is dorky, anything Urmatso (wrong spelling again. Kinda sad that I can't spell my favorite composers name) writes is automatically good, even if it is garbage.

Music

Post by Medea »

Hahaha. . . fine, if you say so the music isn't dorky and everything that one guy writes is good. . . hee-hee. But, anyways, the planet's are cool, and I believe that I have heard Scharezad (I know what you are talking about, the spelling is a bear for that word. lol). I believe that there is a flute piece adaption of that song, but I don't think that I have ever played it. So yeah. And, I don't like country either. Anyone who can only sing about boozing and girls shouldn't be singing. lol. Besides, it just sounds so. . . country. . . lol

Hey, there's some pretty good country music out there, lol.

Although I think my favorite music comes from Enya, Green Day, Ayumi Hamasaki, and... the Black Eyed Peas ^^

Ya I think I had the flute solo one on my iPod. I deleted it after I realized I couldn't make through the entire song with out skipping it.

Ok I will name a few I like.
Dropkick Murphys/ Great band they made me pro-union
Flogging Molly/ Just down and out good
Cradle of Filth/ Good goth-medal band.
Rancid/ They need no expiation
Weezer/ One of the best albums I have.
Ramones/ Another need I say more
Tom Petty/ yes I do like that singing voice
Blues Traveler/ same as above
Cannibal Corpse/ I can now understand the vocals
The Beatles/ They are good
Slayer/ They are the gods of medal

That is just a small bite in what I listen to, I can post more and exact songs if you wish. I also listen to blues, jazz, blue-grass, classics and anything else with a good artist. But I do listen to a good mix of things.
