Brainstorm about a new Rp.

Post by Jishdefish »

Okay, so basically I REALLY want to create a good pirate-themed Role-Player, but I want it with a twist of some sort, some other setting than 1800's open seas. This is basically a brainstorming session, if anyone wants to put their two cents in it would be appreciated.

Change something. Wonk out the technology level. That tends to make tings interesting.

I was thinking of changing the ships to Zeppelins with a negatively charged energy field turning water into 'hot vapor' You know, the opposite of turning water into a solid ('hot ice') with a positively charged electric field. I had designed an airship with sails, a collapsible catwalk/deck and everything, but then I thought better of it. It was kinda cheesy for two reasons: A) If you had the technology to produce a negatively charged energy field, why would you use zeppelins and not some sort of space-compatible vehicle. B) Pirating wouldn't really work with Zeppelins, they are too prone to projectiles.

A) Because everything in space is too far away.

B) Nathan Zachary.

That is all.

1. Medieval, with caravels, galleys, and scooners. Put Catapults, and ballistae on the decks of the ships.

2. Have a wizard or Sorcrerer onboard a ship, to cast lightning bolts, and fireballs. Fireballs, if cast into the water, will create fog, so that it opens your ship up to board the enemy ship.

1 Late medieval/early renaissance with Monitors, schooners, and Treaders.

2 Early medieval with ballistae and no gunpowder.

3 High myth with hippocampus and eastern sea dragons

4 High or medium-high magic, with some ships being able to hire wizards to make their ships fly, and merchants being left with traditional defenses.

5 and most importantly: no major continents. The world is an Archipelago.

I think I am hoping too much to think of something right off of the bat. I have a good storyline, so I'll stick to that, and place it in the Carribean, it's been done, but not the way I do it. Anyway, I started it:

this is one that i've been thing about jish.

how about the ships not only can float along the surface of the water, but with the help of elementals, depending on the kind, can go through different types of terrain.

like have a combination, fire and air it can fly, air and water it can fly and can under the water, earth and air it can fly and skim along the ground.

just an idea
