Charile's angels

Post by raptor »

Chinese dragons are very cute, but how come they have whiskers? Do you think they could use them in the same way catfish use they're whiskers, feel around the bottom of the lake or whatever?

this question is THE MOST strange one I ever heard in my whole life(I KNOW I DIDN'T LIVE THAT LONG BUT STILL!)

the whiskers would be for one of two things in my eyes, also the Chinese dragon CONTROLS the water, they might live in caves nearby but they aren’t like the sea dragon for they are a strange mix of the four main elements(fire, water ,air, earth) The sea dragon could breath fire, control and sometime's said to live in water, they could fly (I was like "WTF?" when I heard about them and I have many theory’s about their possibility's.) AND they could walk on land (and sometime's said to live in caves as well)

ok back to the topic. Whiskers right?

1) no reason once so ever! (kind of like a dog's whiskers) This theory is simple and to the point.

2) MY THEARY: The whiskers are long right? Well what happens if the whiskers have the same purpose as a cat's? to tell if they could fit in small spaces or not. But that would mean they would have a smaller IQ right? not exactly maybe they use it to measure if the space is truly big enough for them or not, kind of like how we use a ruler to measure how high we are and some such they would use their whiskers to see if they are big enough to fin=t in small spaces.

yeah but cats whiskers are used a lot more than that This is part of what lets cats operate so well in the dark. They have better night vision, true - but they let the cat sense subtle changes in the air that tell them where objects are. Because air flows around an object, a cat can tell where it is by the feel in its whiskers, and it knows not to run into it.

So the whiskers would be ideal for navigating a "lightless" cave or even swimming as they could sense movement of the water It does not make them less Intelligent at all in fact all it does is add another way to sense things

it makes perfect sense that were such a creature to exist, then their whiskers could be used for that. I do think though that their mythos is that they are ancient and wise and in China and the far east a sign of being wise and old is having a long beard. I think that they symbolise nothing more than that.

That is likely the reason Asian dragons would have whiskers

They are powerful beings and should be respected with our full ….ummm....respect. but I will admit Draca is right on that statement.
