That sound was really interesting. It almost seemed like it was singing, aww, cute, lol. I dont know what it could have been, but there was this recording of the noise a tree makes, and it was crazy, you could here all these nocks and bumping noises, the sound was speeded up a little, but it was weird, they said it was the water moving up and down the tree.
How did they know it had to be something bigger than a blue whale? Leviathan sounds right!

For a living being to make a pitch that low, it would have to be extraordinary massive, more so than even a blue whale.

i have two possibilities in mind.
1) leviathon like everyone has said
2) atlantis because the sound sounded like carnival music to me for most of it or is that the radio itself? but yeah the growl was creepy
To the well organized mind death is but the next great adventure

I might want to scratch off #2 Alondor. I kind of already asked that and the Answer was that it was the radio itself. Sooo..... yah. like I said I had to go through all the possibilities and these 2 are the only best I got so far.

1) leviathan like everyone has said
2) Some sort of other giant creature that you would only see in a Sci-Fi movie.

Well I think the guy who posted it may have been right. It is the sound of Cthulhu in his dreamless sleep. Just as likely as the rest of the suggestions.

The sound and others like it are under researched due to the lack of repeatability on them. There are a large number of sounds out there what says it must be from a creature. Why not massive stresses from the Earth's crust lengthened and distorted over the amount of distance the sound waves must travel.

It is somewhat like SETI’s “Wow signal”. It was a blip they got from space that they really think was not from the Earth or any other thing in the solar system. But though they have been trying from 1977 on the signal has not been found again. So it collects dust till something can be proven about it.

and note, if you wish to post a number of links again with in a few minutes apart, just wait and post them all in one post.

Good theory's Alondor and drake, however I think Vamp has a point. There are only a few other recordings of this sound, all of which were found in 97. Meaning it could have been a simply, yet unexplainable anomaly. However, on the other side of the coin, the ocean provides plenty of space for ole Levi to hide.
