here's a riddle i read in a book

my first's in adventure but isnt in trip
my second's river but isnt in ship
my third is in chalice but isnt in cup
my fourth's in ascending but isnt in up
my fifth is in error but isnt in flaw
my last is in talon but isnt in claw
my whole is a beast who will eat you for dinner
unless in this riddle game you are the winner

If you were to juggle a lion, and a house cat, the end result would look something like a tattered chunk of red fabric. The cat would scratch anything within reach, and the lion would just eat you. The lesson to learn? Make sure you eat your spinach.

I have been having the most wonderful time watching all of you struggle. The answer is either fog or mist.

That may have not been what you were thinking, but it fits...

That'd be like me giving the riddle, I am blue...

It could be a number of things, but I might've been thinking of a blue bird, or perhaps an ocean. Either way, I'd have to accept the first thing that fits...

Actually I had a theory about ghosts. What if there are none, but rather the flow of time in certain areas project visions, sounds, and sometimes even smells to our present time from the past. They can't interact with us but we can see them...

or like in hitchhikers guide to the galaxy mostly harmless with the perfectly normal beasts?

Not really...

If you think about, time flows through Earth in a steady pattern most of the time. However, sometimes the flow warps into a loop, and we can see the past. Because it always flows forward, we can't go back in time. However, If we can alter which way the flow travels at one point, theoretically, we could go back in time...
