Moderators

Post by Tempest »

The Dragnix oligarchy has decided to bestow its denizens with a voice, and thus is holding its second moderator elections. Two or three moderators will be elected, as follows:

Sector 1 (General): General Forum
Sector 2 (Site Related): Dragons Discussions, Artwork
Sector 3 (PbP): Role Playing, Out of Character discussion
Sector 4 (Maintenance): Introduction, Test Forum, Feedback
Sector 5 (Gallery): The Coppermine gallery (not on this forum)

I will do this Ender's style: being a moderator is a responsibility and you also need to be fair and responsible about moderating a forum, and should be rather consistent about it too. You will have plenty of personal discretion about what you allow and what you don't want to see in the forum(s) you moderate. It sound like a difficult job but in reality it isn't. I know it's something you will be doing for free and as such this mean you address problems as you see them. I will never ask to overwork yourself or ask that you spend time on the board rather than studying for an exam or anything like that.

Also, remember that in "moderator" there is the word "moderation", this means that you can be called to curb and restrain opinions that have gone too far. You will have all the tools needed to keep any situation under control, as such, I expect moderators to be able to keep their head above the fray.

In order to run, you just have to make a step forward and tell me what sections you are interested to moderate. I have already divided the board in broad groups, but feel free to apply to any forum(s) you want.

I will review your nomination and if you are found to have the desired qualities for the task then I will put you to a vote. Registered users on the board will vote you up or down. This also mean that you should consider the realistic possibility that I will refuse some candidates and some candidates can also be voted down. Keep in mind that while this election is meant to be fun for the most part, don't take things too personal, there is a lot of reasons for someone to not be chosen; it depend on your ability to quench inflammatory threads, your general behavior here and if in general, your attitude proven me that you derseve to be a moderator.

Seniority will be a factor of selection.

I'd like to nominate myself for moderator of the PbP...purely because that's where I've spent most of my time for the past 3-4 years and feel I know my way around it quite well.

General/Dragon Discussion, in order to keep the site safe for the childrens. I was never REALLY clear on the jobs a moderator has on this forum. The last one I posted on was.... tedious and time-consuming.

Artwork. After being on this board for a while, i feel like trying to help keep it the way it is and was.
Plus i'd like to keep a keen eye on several up-and-coming artists i've spotted

Personally if there is room I would like to moderate the General Discussion and RP sections where most of my time will be spent. I may not be the most active (my dad ecided my comp was good soccer practice and the school hates message board use. But for now all is fixed.), but I have been around for a while and know how it operates...that and I have gotten 1000x times better at not getting angry. ^.^.

I would like most any of them. I would like to mod the PBP area. The main reason is I don't post there but I do have experance moding role-play games. But anyother would be find. I think I should give something back to the board. Other than tempest I am one of the oldest members here.

I'd like to submit my interest in the Maintenance stuff (specifically the Intro. Forum). With so many new members, I think I'd be of most use there, what with my friendly disposition and all^^ That and I know my way around this site well, being here since just after Ex and Fyre joined. So yeah.

Also, I'd like to voice my support for Fyre for Pbp, speaking of whom^^

I would like to nominate myself. Any forum you give me to moderate will be perfect for me as long as it is not the gallery. My computer doesnt upload the pictures any more.

*chough* Off topic *cough*

I'd like to nominate myself for the Maintenance forums since I've been around to know that stuff. However, because I'm rarely on anymore, I'd rather be considered more of a second choice. As much as I like I'd like to moderate the general forum, I don't read most the posts to be able to check what everyone is doing. Chalgrish is better suited for that.

Also, if you plan on applying for the position make sure you actually stay around to fill it. People come and go pretty quickly around here, and it would be quite a pain to change mods every month because the old ones haven't shown up for the past two to do anything.

Good to be back everyone...
I know I am in no position to nominate myself for anything, but I have done modding before at Tempest's service. I nominate myself for any spot open or needed to be contented too.

Perhaps if you read my post I am making soon explaining my absence, you will see why I have been out as long as I have.

Thank you.
