Falconer wrote:Is there anyone who votes for Saphira from "Eragon", despite the whole magic angle? Vampirehunter42, I read that book, too. It stinks big time. I mean, wizards creating dragons? Come on. Vermithrax does have a cool name, though.
Saphira would be my favorite too, also you must of missed a part of book dragons where one of oldest races in that worl true I personally havnt finished book but when he was explaining about em. Was also stated no one knows everything about dragons if they where created that wouldnt be true there would be people that knew all.

The Terry Brooks, "Magic Kingdom for Sale" Series has a main character who is dragon named Strabo. He is your typical evil, centuries old, maiden devouring, village burning type fantasy dragon, but too powerful to be slain, and basically wants to be left alone, but invariably gets sucked into the story each time, and often unwillingly saves the day with his dragon abilities. They are quite entertaining, and in fact, the first book, in which Strabo is tricked and vows to destroy the main human character ( a modern human lawyer who buys the magic kingdom and is now king) is now being made into a movie.

The Bazil Broketail series is quite good, and the main character is a "domesticated" intelligent, talking wingless dragon, who like others of his kind serve in the Army of a "Good" empire on the lines of the Roman empire, in a world of magic and ancient technology, much like middle earth. I think there are at least seven books. Another main character is a wild, man-eating winged dragon with no name, but is known as "the purple green", who befriends Bazil, and after losing his ability to fly, joins Bazil's dragon unit. Each dragon has an orphan dragon boy, who tends him, and this is the other main character. These are great books if you are a fan of fantasy battles, but there is also human and dragon romance bits too.

Terry Goodkind's sword of truth series has a good female dragon called Scarlett in the first two books, but leaves the series after that. Again, not a sacharine sweet human loving dragon, but a deadly monster who thinks nothing of devouring a whole village of humans, but does befriend the hero because he rescues her egg from a sorcerer. This first, very popular book is supposed to be made into a movie as well. "Wizard's First Rule".

Finally, you may like my book which I hope to release in the next six months, which are the memoirs of a Heavenly Seraph-dragon, and his role in Biblical and historical events which in some cases have formed the basis of today's dragon legends.. This book is carefully researched, and presents an aspect of dragon lore very few people are even aware of, and will be extremely disturbing and controversial to some not prepared to see their long standing beliefs seriously challenged by ovewhelming scriptural and archaeological evidence that proves these creatures were a major part of ancient Judao-Christian theology.

I like Lackey's Joust series too, one of the best series I know for "less intelligent, non talking type dragons." Her knowledge of Raptorial birds, made the dragon training sequences seem very realistic.

I like the dragon in Dragonheart a lot, but my favorite non-OC dragon is the Silver Dragon variety from third edition Dungeons and Dragons. They're so pretty.

Well first he is the father of all dragons. Another he is neutral, and I normally play with at leas on part neutral. And he is all dragons in one, we can appear in any dragon or dragon like shape. And the PRC based on him is one of the few I would try with a PC.

Good. I agree, by the way, but too many people have terrible reasons.
