You're so close. But computers don't spin around, obviously.

Actually, the old ones do ,sort of. The hard disk spins and makes this annoying raket that is somewhere between a mosqito and my moms shop vac.

asdf is correct, its the hard drive (the part that stores all the information) that spins. It's only in the newer hard drives called solid state that no spinning actually occurs since these are more like usb drives but these are much more expensive and they can't store as much info yet. So the likelyhood of anyone's computer having these without them specifically putting them in there is pretty small. So you likely have a spinning hard drive in your computer right now.

The problem with the spinning ones is that because they spin they cause friction. Thanks to the friction they make noise and wear down so the noisier they get is a pretty good indication of when they are about to die.

Back when my dad started hard disks were external and looked like a box fan. If you got any dust on them they wuold get off balance and sound like our washing machine. The built in storage was on these things that looked like vhs tapes except stored binary code.

How could you make such elaborate an explanation of hard drives without realizing it? It's a hard drive! And it spins all day long on all sorts of servers just to keep web pages running. Web pages such as this one.

I'll credit you asdf for mentioning hard drives. Now you can make us a riddle.
