Wyverns

I have just had an idea for breeding wyverns. As a wyvern is just a large flying reptile it should be possible to breed flying lizards into wyverns. Am I right?

Two things.

Genetic science.
Money.

yeah its possibly scientifically, but its monitarily unadvisable the money it would take to fincance it would probably bankrupt several large coorporations.

Well, with the way genetic science is increasing, it won't be long until we can have "Designer Pets". So you could breed a wyvren, or any type of dragon.

There are South American flying lizards although they kind of glide. You would not have to spend loads of money on the project. At most it would take $1,000,000 to $2,000,000 dollars. You would breed them to have their wing size increase more than their body size.

Maybe you could cross a few animals or something...

Or just go to Isla Nublar and get a pteradon sample. (Dino fans will know what I'm talking about. )

Um, just a little question. Shouldn't this be in "Dragon Disscusion"?

P.S. Check out what my new siqniture says.

No, cuz I think this is gonna turn into a genetic engineering question, which could be real cool.

And for the record, I am certifiedly wierd.

One thing about this though. even if it is possible to do would it be advisable. just how would we know how much they would eat. We could possibly destroy the wholeecosystem by just introducing one genetically engineered species, and if that happened we would either have to kill em all or be in deep trouble in short amount of time.

How very arrogant of you. Mankind doesn't have the power to destroy the world. We don't even have the power to save it. This planet lives and breathes on a much vaster scale.

We can't save the planet, or destroy it.

Read Jurassic Park for an example.

The U.S. has enough explosives to slit the world in half 5 times... I think mankind can destroy it.

if we can ruin a whole local enviroments ecosystem by just bringing in an animal frm different part of world. How much damage would introducing a genetically ingeniered creature?

it depends on how you deal with the creature. If it was left to run loose, there would probably be alot of consequences, but if it was jsut a pet, then there probably would be little to no damage to the ecosystem....depending on how you do it...

I'm officially challenging that figure. We've been reducing our nuclear weapons cache for years.

Suppose, though, that there was a thermonuclear war, and the Earth was extremely radioactive for a hundred years. The majority of life would die.

But in several places around the world, there are bacteria that thrive on radioactivity. Extremophiles like those microbes would grow and thrive until they covered the Earth, bringing the radioactivity levels down to a livable level. The sea creatures protected from radiation by the water will come up again, and life would renew itself.

Maybe we could blow up the world, if we put all our nukes in a line like a partian seperating the world. But we don't have enough urananiam. We would have to mine our patch of the galaxy bare.

We could tag all of the wyverns with knockout tags so we could kill them remotely. DARPA has the technology. The just won't share it. It's top secret defence stuff.

If they won't admit it exists, then how do u know about it?

They probably do.

OK, possibilities of things so they do not ruin the ecosystem:

-Auto Kill Tag Thingy

-Give it weaknesses so it would have predetors

-Make them pretty small, like max size would be that of a horse

I say if u want a predator, bring back Velociraptor.

have you never seen Jurassic Park? raptors are really smart - they can open doors. I would never feel safe in my house again. wyverns are okay cause they don't have opposable thumbs.

The aim is to ride them.

-snickers- From creatures, at best, the size of a cat? Sorry if I'm taking the mick and whatnot but....

If they're bioengineered, we can make them whatever size we want. :upto:

Or are they like eagles not reptiles.

I'm sorry, my mind took that the wrong way! That emoticon does'nt make it any better either
