A Dragon's Death
Once more, soaring through the night
Among the tumultuous waves of thunder
He ascends into the frey
More a part of nature's fury
Than a visitor to it
He revels in the lightning's
Brilliant power, so much like his own
Ten millennia alive, each spent in
Celebration of life, he spreads his
Mighty wings to catch the irrefusable
Force of the storm, reliving many
Battles won, long ago in a different land
In a different age
Can even he fight the irrepressible
Advance of time, moving ever forward?
No, he simply admits to finding
A power in nature greater than ever his own
And with a final blow of flame
From deep within his being
Succumbs to it
