Love hurts
Let's say if a vampire bit you, would it hurt? If so, would it be a pinch or really painful?

You know it could be that there is a sort of anesthesia in their saliva that numbs the pain just saying give it some thought

A sedative, strong painkiller, and anticoagulant. Just like vampire bats. The victim never even wakes up.

Re: Love hurts
Id say it would hurt if they are the animalistic type of vampire, where they rip the hell out of your neck. But if they are the type to leave two nice little holes, it wouldnt hurt as much.
Yes, vampire bats have the strong pain killer, and they actually lap at the blood, rather than "suck" it. And they are very cute!

Re: Love hurts
But do remember a vampire bat is not that large. And makes a rather small cut on the creature in question. For a creature as large as a human on an area as sensitive as the neck, it would have to hurt. Unless the vampire has a number on minuets to wait for a sedative to take affect.

Unless they administer the sedative via the mouth... it would explain certain aspects of the vampire story. No male vampire would go after a male human unless he's gay, which would be rare, for example...

Gay vampires... that's a really scary thought.

Re: Love hurts
I'm confused as well unless the person was too stunned to stop kissing and their saliva stunned them but still you would think that the sedative would work quicker with direct blood access

But then you've got the pain of biting.
I was on about all the vampire sex stuff. You know how vampires are supposed to seduce their victims? Well, that would give them an opportunity to administer sedative.

Re: Love hurts
I guess in the more modern view of vampires that may be the thought. But that gets into the realm of a real and much more dangerous issue. That again gets into the thought that vampires are all about lust and dirty love.

Re: Love hurts
Well, they usually represent the forbidden, dark side of human behavior... At first it was feeding on humans, then drinking their blood, then drinking blood but snaring victims through seduction, then this...vampirehunter42 wrote:I guess in the more modern view of vampires that may be the thought. "This" being a sparkly emo vampire looking at a vacant chick in a way that you think "should I call the cops on this guy?" and then for some reason teens around the world love it.
That may be why that new vampire movie is comming out.

Re: Love hurts
Me too. The older, more animalistic vampires are cooler. I prefer when they are the predators and we are the prey... Not they the seductor and we the seduced. That's what dime store romance novels are for.

Re: Love hurts
No kidding i hate mushy romance novels the only romance i like is the kind where it isn't the main part of the story but a byproduct of the stories progression, it feels more real to me than just neverending romance

Re: Love hurts
Have you seen some of the romance novel covers? It's always a bare-chested, totally ripped guy and some girl with her clothes on the verge of falling off. I think they just use the same picture over and over again.

Re: Love hurts
Ever heard of the Metamyth? Well, there isn't only one of them...
Has anyone seen Dancing with Vampires yet? It's a show that involves two of the most popular things on TV - dancing, and vampires. Oh wait, you won't have - the pilot has only been shown to a few people. In fact, I don't think anyone's seen it. They may not have made it yet.
And on that bombshell, what do you think of Clarkeson does vampires ('does' being the old sense of the word, of course). It shows you how to slay vampires using nothing but a caravan (which gets destryoed in the process, you'll be pleased to know), a fast car, and lots of power. The battle cry of 'POWER!!' is very important, I surmise. The vampires he hates the most though are those that ride motorbikes.
I notice the new soap coming out - Vampire Road I believe it's called. It's set in a road (of course...) that has a high vampire population, mostly eastern european immigrants. The existing populace feel threataned, leading to racial tension and lots of [crappy] plot lines, including one where Shane finds out that his mum's been sleeping with the vampire guy across the road.
Ah, can't forget the documentries. There's one coming out called On the Edge: the boy born a vampire, which follows the real-life struggles of a boy who was born with a medical condition which means he can't go out in the day and requires oral infusions of blood to stay alive. To top that, he has pointy teeth as well. Medical experts are baffled why this is the case.
Let's not forget the Celebrity Vampire Chef special either, in which our celbrity vampires must cook a meal for their human judges. Low quality food, of course, but what do you expect from people who don't eat?
Feel free to mention any other shows you have seen or heard about involving vampires.

Re: Love hurts
See, as a long time D&D fan, I always leaned more toward the idea that a vampire's approach differed from vampire to vampire, in accordance with approach and intelligence;
Bruiser-types in life, for instance, as vampires would be more likely to simply rip their opponent to pieces, and feed on the mess that follows. It's a bit more safe, as they can ensure their victims are not likely to react or fight back, as they're already dead, though less 'filling', as less blood can be...um...salvaged.
More sophisticated vampires are more likely to devise clever ways to weaken their opponents without actual injury, trap them in some way, knock them out, etc., to maximize blood retention and minimize mess. However, this does run risks of it's own...(vial of holy water...)
