If you solve corectly the riddle you get a jewel perhaps,
But if you are wrong in sloving the riddle you will feel the burn of it all.
Very few friends I have, renowned am not,
Concealed and shielded behind much, difficult to spot.
I am like bug and sickness; I am contagious not always wanted,
Though I am small, they fear me greatly, for I might leave them haunted.
At times I am tough to keep, my master forced to let me free,
Then I rupture and soar around and they converse regarding me.
I may be friend or foe, servant or teacher,
I am like a bird; I want to be free creature.
What am I?
Only one chance per person, Soon be your greatest regreat

When used in ones, just to adore,
We grace the ear and hand.
When each of us connects two more,
We form a sturdy band.
When each is linked to neighbors four,
We form an armor grand.
And when we're carried off to war,
The blade we can withstand.

A fire doused
A battle lost
All things come
At a cost
ocean to mountain, and mountain to plain.
I can take your pride and give you shame
I make boulders to pebbles
and creeks to fountains.
from the earth
shall spring a mountain
A clock can show me
A watch can too
I am not seen
I am not you
What is this?

I meant a loop, like a hoop earing or bracelet, or a ring.
And in answer to your riddle: Time.

Or seasons. But very good! I made it up myself......I just have good words to use. And I'll admit that hoops would work, I'm just saying the exact word that would work would be ring.

Seasons doesn't really work, because a clock won't show seasons, at most it will show a day at a time. It could be seasons if you said calander, or something...

Um..chalgrish, the answer is time like the others said and that riddle is extremely similar if not the same one as from The Hobbit when Bilbo is talking to Gollom (however you spell his name) so dont take credit for other peoples work ok? =P

Read the riddle in the book, then read mine. They are similar only because they have the same ANSWER!

My turn!
I am, in truth, a yellow fork
From tables in the sky
By inadvertent fingers dropped
The awful cutlery.
Of mansions never quite disclosed
And never quite concealed
The apparatus of the dark
To ignorance revealed.
