dragons are often associated with surreal things; wielding magic, or things like that, in various places, especially fantasy stories.
what do you think of this? do dragons have magical abilities? (or, "would" they?) are they related to magic in any kind of way at all? if dragons live/d, where?
also, hope this thread makes sense, it's getting a bit late here and i'm asglasgasgasdgsaf

Re: Dragons and Magical/Ethereal Associations
I don't quite know where I stand on this one, because I don't quite know what to call magic. Sure, there's full on spiritual stuff - the sort of magic that actual witches do and is warned about in the Bible - and I don't believe Dragons are magical in that sense. However, there's also the magic that is inherent in life itself, which they rather obviously possess. But that kind of magic is possessed even by robots, and to a certain extent even mountains...

Re: Dragons and Magical/Ethereal Associations
i meant magic more in the mainstream sense of the word. abnormal abilities stemming from ethereal essences/elements; the sort of "magic" that, i don't know, fairy godmothers have.
i had no idea i was quite this prone to accidental alliterations. anyway, i agree with what you said, though i don't know i'd say robots have that kind of magic.

Then no, I don't think Dragons are magical in that sense.
I contend, though, that robots are imbued with magic due to be created by human hands. But so is a painting.

Hi. Well I believe they are very magickal beings. You just have to get to know one first .
Do not medel in the affairs of Dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup.

Re: Dragons and Magical/Ethereal Associations
There are many forms that magic takes in this world and the planes connected to it.
From True Words, to pagan spells, to the divine acts called by the faithful.
If the dragons were to use any form of magic, it would be with True Words. They'd weave power with their very speech and need not incantations.
As to where they live? That would be anyone's guess.

hm. wouldn't incantations, and "power with their very speech" be the same thing?

Re: Dragons and Magical/Ethereal Associations
No. An incantation is a phrase in an average language that does "abnormal" things.
What I'm saying is that a dragon, by merely speaking its native tongue, would work magic. Every single word would hold power rather than a lengthy set of words holding the power.

Re: Dragons and Magical/Ethereal Associations
I rather doubt God would tell anyone the words with which the world was created, if they are capable of rebellion - the damage that could result would be intolerable...
But, I think Dragons, being imbued with spirit, possess magic by existing, much like humans and other animals do.
