HEATED DEBATE!!! FATE OR FREE WILL???

This is one of those life altering questions, so what better way to degrade it then by myself making it into a poll question, and by later changing the subject???

how about your free will determines your fate? sort of makes sense, though it ends up turning into fate determining fate, but it's all based on your free will.

That makes sense, but in a way, it could theoretically never be possible...
If, for instance, the world were to end with the Earth being flooded by a mad scientists water making device, than free will would dictate over fate, as the Earth's ultimate demise is suppossed to involve fire...
However, if the mad scientist were to invent a device that hurls the Earth into the Sun, than fate would dictate over free will. The mad scientist might THINK that he's in control of his own destiny, but really he's under the influence...OF FATE!!!

So you are saying time has nothing to do with fate? i would think fate would have a certain time it occures.
If the fate of the earth is to be distroyed in 2012, but your mad scientist distroyes it earlier(in the same way as in 2012), is it still fate? or is it now free will?
It could be the fate of everyone else but the scientist, and only the free will of the scientist.

If it is destroyed earlier, despite whether or not it was done in the same way, it is still free will, since fate would have said that it was to be destroyed in 2012...

can there be more than one fate at the same time, such as it is his fate is to change our fate, or would that be the same fate?

The matter of fate vs. free will can only be veiwed as an opinion...
There is no way that a greater being would allow us to see into his grand plan, for that would be knowing and understanding everything...
However, what you mentioned below is the same as fate, as there can only be one ultimate fate...
Dealing withthe matter of free will is much more sensitive, as one persons free will both directly and inderectly affect everyone else's...
For instance, if a person decides to go to Rodney's instead of Wal-mart, they might see some canned oysters on the shelf, and decide to get them, where had they gone to Wal-mart, they would have missed the isle that they were in completely. The person might go home and eat the shelfish, causing them to get sick, which would in turn make him miss his cousin's bachelor party, where he would have met his future wife. Had he married her, they might decide to have children, and one of those children could be the great great grandmother of the next antichrist, who would be so extreme that he inevertibly causes the extinction of the human race, allowing dragons to inherit the Earth!!!

if only the dragons could come without everyone having to die...

Good job 56...
But the point I'm trying to get across is that it is both impossible to tell what is influencing us, and that it is an opinion to say that either exists...
Actually, for that matter, everything is an opinion...

Was it fate that said Luther was going to get cancer or his own pathitic free will?

A thought occurs...
What if everything we do is free will, but it falls into a grander scheme of things called fate???
And Kojack, it was his free will to carry the Kryptonite around...

true firuweata but it could have been the fate sisters that decreed that he would choose to carry the kryptonite around and get cancer
....u kno like how in the bible it says that we have the choice to choose between good and evil but yet god already knos wuts going to happen to us

I dunno, I have mixed opinions on this...
On one hand, He could let us have free will, and know each and every person so well, that he knows what's going to happen before it does...
On the other hand, we might all be under the influence of fate, and him realizing we wouldn't like that, he told us that we have free will, when relly everything we do is predetermined...

free will is just an illusion; I mean the government tells you what to do and even can manupulate you at will
FIGHT THE POWER
Sorry hippy moment....moment over.
