Important
I believe everyone knows who I am at this point so no introduction will be necessary.
I have noticed that the board has been littered with spam threads in forums that spam is prohibited, and to be honest it seems like some have no clue what is going on or why they get in trouble when I come on the scene.
Allow me to establish some Guidelines to follow. Follow these, and you will not cause so many disturbances and the board can be at peace. We all will be able to enjoy ourselves.
- 1. This is an all age’s board. I do not care how agitated you get at someone do NOT swear! They only Place that Permits a tiny bit of swearing is in the RP forum if the moment is right and not to excess. It’s just not appropriate here! We are all mature enough to exchange words without obscenities.
2. Leave funny/ridiculous threads of spam in their designated forums. (Discussion/General) Do Not by any means post a random silly thread in the Moderator's and Admin's forum! It is not where it belongs! Failure to do so will not only clutter the board up, it lowers its image. I remember people would approach me about the board and tell me they were afraid to post because we looked so elite. Now, with all do respect, it seems we are digressing faster then ever.
3. When Role playing, write a post that is MORE then a sentence long? One paragraph should be the minimum. It really should be more, but I am setting simple guidelines. It really is no good when the thread creator only has a single sentence to work off of. To be frank, it is one of the most agitating things on the planet.
4. Respect others. If you see you do not get along with a certain individual, DO NOT TAKE IT OUT ON THIS BOARD! Avoid each other if you must! Act mature about it! Tell me, what good does an argument have on a message board? "Oh no he cap locked those words! What ever am I going to do? They are all capitals! Ahh!"
Follow these Guidelines, and I assure you that not only will the board be a great place, but it will be tolerable, well ordered, and respectable once more.
(PS: Someone noticed my low post count. On the other board I had 5000 + posts and was post leader. Thats how I know these Guidelines will work.)

Can I make a suggestion though? I've seen this around the board and it is increasingly irritating:
This is a message board, not a chat room. Please spell the words out, and pay attention to punction and spelling, and proper capitilization for easier reading and comprehension.
Short hand typing is for chatrooms, and should stay in chatrooms.
Thank you.

i have to disagree. while you do have a piont it is that many of us would rather read shorthand then the whole word. and it cuts back on the amount of space that is used trying to get a piont arcoss.

Thats nice... Any suggestions PM me and I will edit the thread and add them in if I see them a worthy Addition. Otherwise just go with what I have.
Neco I have it covered.
This is a thread about the guidelines. Lets follow them.

I am glad Ex made these points. it's something that has been bothering me for a long while now. but I didn't say anything because I would come over as ranting. I couldn't have put it more eloquently
anyway with that said.
come on guys, lets buck out ideas up ne?

Your advice is greatly appreciated Ex. Your point is understood to the fullest extent. Although I do try to post more than a sentence, I may fall short every other blue moon.
As far as spelling is concerned, I am not a perfect speller so if you see a misspelled word in my posts please let me know. If it is one thing that my parents have stressed, it is good spelling.

@nino
Rarely is a person ever slowed down by reading a whole word than the shortened version. It is sheer laziness, and is inconsiderate to others who might find shorthand a distraction rather than a help.
Like I said: keep shorthand for the chats, not the boards.

Thank you. I'm not to fond of the shorthand typings. I am not well verse in all of the new phrases. It causes me much frustration trying to decipher their meanings. Misspelled words I can deal with. Nobody's perfect. Shorthand. . .that's another story, though.

I'd argue that this websites serves as a canvas for aspiring writers. In this respect you should take care to write long hand and spell and grammer check your work. Wow none of us are perfect but each of us can do this.
We are trained from a young age in grammer, spelling and punctuation. so we should make the effort. We owe it to ourselves as writers.

Absolutely. And look at it this way: On some of the boards I frequent, it is a set rule that you post long hand, and your posts can still be deleted.
Oh, and this idea occurred to me, about spam. On UV, spam is intolerable except in the spam thread...yes, a single thread focused on spamming each other. Good manners must be at hand at all times, or the post is deleted, just like anywhere.
Because there is a spam thread, spam anywhere else is severely frowned upon, and will be deleted.
So if you don't want to have a load of your posts deleted, don't spam (unless, like I have said, you do it in the correct spamming place).

I think that the site should come with spell-check..... too bad Tempest cant elect anouther Admin to help him with this stuff....

by Chalgrish
Spell Check would be impossible, as PhpBB doesn't carry that feature. Use Microsoft word, ya lazy bum!
.
@Exx
I propose that we add a clause, blah ya blahdaya.... that specifically restricts oppressing minorities.

Well It could be formatted in.... I don't have the money to get microsoft word..... I'm poor.....

Im just here to say what a great example you are to younger and new members if everyone obeys these rules the board would be a better place.

Exxcellent... Get it?
It seems like everyone has gotten my point. Follow these guidelines and this board will become an even more ejoyable place to reside.
@Chal
Oppressing Minorities? That is an appropriate one but would that not file under respect others?
@ Everyone Else
Ok... I would like to establish a sense of professionalism on the board so short hand is discouraged. I cannot tell you how many times I want to smite those who abbreviate everything. I would have to hate myself if I gave an example so I will refrain. You get my point. It is discouraged.
It would be nice if you took the time to actually write out what you want to say, but I will not establish it as a Guideline until I have noticed it as a severe problem.

Does a thread already exist for designated spam?
I noticed a "Random" thread (And something about Chalgrish) on it....

i know yeah its just a random thread because youre allowed to spam on random threads.Plus the part about chalgrish was because people were being off topic and told us to stard a random thread so i did it.

How do you define shorthand? I think sometimes spelling things differently can be fun, changing your accent or demeanor by changing how you write...

by Firuweata
Isn't shorthand just another word for abreviate without punctuation marks???
And if that's the case, doesn't that make Dr., Mr., Mrs., Ave. all be shorthand, as well as contractions???
Though I might disagree with your shorthand, I will defend to the death your right to use it. Besides, we all know what "lol", "rofl", "omg", "afk" mean...
Though they might not be acceptable to some, shorthand is fine with me to an extent. Just don't start to type things so outlandish that we have no possible way to desipher it without a translation...(i.e., Neco the Nightwraith's signature). No offense, of course, just giving an example...
