Which one do you prefer? Why?

Werewolves were the original. Werecats were a parody. To say the least, it's a mimic.

Werecats are much cooler, though. Spinoffs can often be better than originals! XD
And how do you know that werewolves came first?

Because wolves were not only the dominate species but also the first spieces to be domesticated so yea

That doesn't mean the werewolf came first, just because it was the dominant species. And if it was the first to be domesticated, doesn't that mean it has less of a chance that it will bite someone? Versus a wild cat?

werecat because I'm a werecat.
And there have been legends of werecats since the vikings, whereas werewolves since the 11th century. And someone only attempted to tame the cat during the Egyptian period because they noticed that they're easier to keep than dogs and they're better at catching vermin. And wolves are not dominant, they're equal to every other carnivore.

Werewolves.
I knew about them long before I ever even heard of werecats. There's just something about them. Besides, I'm a sucker for wolves.

I also like werecats because Solembum is a werecat....=3

yea but it took more to demisticate dogs then cats and beside legends of werewolves started in 800 ad where as the werecat legends started in the late 1300's so there!!!! Im a werewolf maybe not expert but i do know when the legends started to surculate. So there!
And accually See most bigs hunt in solidarity where as wolves use team work and hunt in packs but im not saying that all cats hunt alone im saying most do! And besides wolves have been under superstioution for mush mush longer than cats i mean look at this ok say there is a farmer in the mountains and say he loses a cow Guess who hes more likely to blame it on! The wolf because they were there much longer then big cats have although its not always the wolves that do it cats do it alot too but sense wolves have been under suspision for longer they get blamed most of the time! So there! try to contridict me on that one!

1. what does hunting in a pack or not have to do with superstition?
2. actually, in the mountains where I go, pumas get blamed for missing sheep.

1 accually most of the time wolves or wild dogs get blamed for taken animals
and 2 it has to do with it because wolves were always thought to kill more then they ought too and so when they killed in a pack it made more of an impact on the farmers!

Each wolf doesn't take it's own sheep!
And pumas (ok, that word freaks me out. I'm just going to go back to cougar), in the mountains (to be specific, the Rockys), get blamed JUST as much--maybe more--than wolves!

Legends of anything can't be pinpointed, but werewolves were the first human to wolf at the full moon deal.

Wolves can't be blamed when humans wiped them out centuries before.
And what does superstition have to do with the fact that wolves are better?-.- and I thought this was about WEREwolves and WEREcats.
but just to contradict you on the "oh but wolves and dogs are blamed more than cats"
:
-during the years of the plague cats were killed in their hundreds because they were thought to be the cause of the plague when it was fleas
-They were thought to be familars to witches and were burned alive
-during the late Saxon period to the early 19th century cats were stuck between the walls of new houses (where the insulation would be) and cemented in alive for good luck
-in 1703 some French students captured as many cats as possible and hung them
-tormented,set on fire and chased through the streets.
-trapped in baskets and thrown onto a bonfire.
And a new horror that has come to my attention:Bonsai kittens.where two-day year old kittens are put into special boxes and 'grown' into a specific shape because it's the fashion in Asia and parts of America.
I think all animals have suffered persucution at the hands of man,not just dogs.

sorry to say this but wild cats are lower or higher in the food chain depending on where they live. Though the animal highestin american is the wolf because there are more of them here. where as in a foreign country say like ireland they have been wiped out because of centuries of supersticion makeing the cat in that area more likely higher on the food chain

Mia: Erm, not really. On the Eastern side of the US, there are A LOT more cats than there are wolves. Say Florida. I've NEVER seen a wild wolf in Florida. But cougars, yes. North Carolina: In camp grounds there are many, many more warnings for bears and wild cats than wolves. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a 'wolf warning' in a campground up there....and I'm sure the same goes for South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, etc...

SVX: But bears aren't wolves. We're not considered chimps, but we evolved from them.
Mia: Ok, ok. Wild cats and wolves get blamed the SAME AMOUNT. Wolves in the west, cats in the east.

Wow this really took off. Anyways, as an answer to my own question I prefer Werecats, they are a new twist to an old legend, although in Eragon they are cleverly intelligent, I beleve that level is too high. I think that they are hidden hunters of the night, and that they are more intelligent then wolves in ways of hunting, but are not as strong when faced without cover; although they could easily take down an unarmed human.

SVX and Aiolos: that's like saying that humans evolved from monjkeys. No true. In fact, they both came from the same base pseudo-primate, austropolithicines. If that was true, we'd have no wolves left.
Mia: Texas has very few bears. almost none other than east texas, and those are all from Louisiana originally.
Jish da fish (ghetto, yehright): Eragon is waaay overblown. It's publicized for tthe fact that it was written by a 15 year old kid. I'm not saying it's a bad book, I'm quite the fan of it, myself, but I detest the publicity it gets. "Ooh, a teenager wrote a book!". Hundreds of others have written books, he just had the luck to write a book with parents that run a publishing company.
Aiolos and Mia (I'm on everyone today!) : statistically, dogs are blamed more, but cats are more cunning in the way they do it. Not to mention that it's very rare that either will go after cattle. They both prefer chicken.

Accually a wolf might have an easier chance of takeing down prey because they attack in packs makeing it easier to get food while most cats not all most of the time hunt alone unless they have a litter then they will teach them how to hunt increaseing their chances of getting a kill while when wolves have pups the pups stay behide with a selected group of babysitters while the parents hunt and bring back food for all of them. though sense wolves accually plan their kills most of the time they are smarter then cats when it comes to hunting

Three words describe you. zealous, dogmatic (ha, ha), and stubborn. Cats travel in packs, you probably know them as PRIDES.
